Dr. Evangelos Karfopoulos

Evangelos Karfopoulos studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at NTUA, where he also earned his PhD with research focused on electric vehicle grid integration and demand response. He has authored numerous scientific publications and is a Senior Innovation Consultant specializing in energy systems, electromobility, and smart grids. With over 15 years of experience in European and national R&D projects, he has coordinated and managed large-scale initiatives on electric vehicle integration, charging infrastructure, energy storage, and smart grid solutions. He is currently with CERTH, where he coordinates and develops Horizon Europe proposals. Previously, he supported the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) and the Public Power Corporation (PPC) in advancing EU-funded projects and grid modernization initiatives. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Scientific Project Manager at ICCS/NTUA, leading projects such as eCharge4Drivers, FastInCharge, Shar-Q, Battery2Life, and eBRT2030. He has also advised the OECD/ITF on the impact of EV charging demand along TEN-T corridors on local electricity grids. Since 2022, Evangelos has been pursuing postgraduate studies in Data Science and Machine Learning. He actively contributes to European expert groups, including as Research Leader in the 2Zero/EGVIA partnership and as Guest Editor for MDPI Energies.
